A Department of Public Works employee called officers on Tuesday, March 14, when they noticed the car idling on Florence Road, Northampton police said. When police arrived, they found two men asleep in the car.
Officers struggled to rouse them. When the men finally woke up, they were confused and disoriented, authorities said.
Police tried to speak with the men about why they were so tuckered out when they noticed drugs in the car, officials said. They searched the vehicle and found a lot more, including a gun.
Officials did not release the men's names, but they both face a long list of charges.
The driver, who is from Staten Island, New York, is charged with —
- Trafficking cocaine
- Possession of heroin
- Possession of methadone
- Possession of crack
- Possession of oxycodone
- Possession gabapentin
- Possession of methamphetamines
- Carrying a loaded firearm without a license
- Operating a vehicle under the influence — second offense
- Driving without a license
The passenger, a man from Leverett, was charged with —
- Trafficking cocaine
- Possession of heroin
- Possession of methadone
- Possession of crack
- Possession of oxycodone
- Possession gabapentin
- Possession of methamphetamines
Police did not say when they are due in court, but they should be well-rested for their hearings.
